Leadership

Pastor Rebecca Boardman

Rev. Rebecca Boardman serves as the Pastor & Director of LCM. She grew up in Plano, TX, but fled north for schooling at Valparaiso University (B.A. ’00) & the Lutheran School of Chicago at Chicago (M.Div. ’04) After serving a large parish in Denver, CO, she found a deeper calling to campus ministry in the St. Louis area (primarily with Washington University in St. Louis & St. Louis University). The majority of her ministry has been focused on the “first third of life,” especially the hopeful but fragile journey through young adulthood. In her free time, she loves to explore, cook for others, watercolor, and pick cactus needles out of her elderly Pekingese.

Wendi Van Beek (she/her/hers) is an approved candidate for Minister of Word and Service (Deacon) in the Grand Canyon Synod of the ELCA, and serves Lutheran Campus Ministry in outreach and community care. Wendi earned her MA degree from Wartburg Theological Seminary in May of 2023, a M.Ed in Education Administration from the College of Counseling and Human Resource Development at South Dakota State University in 2011, a BS degree in Behavioral Science from Bellevue University in 2008, and an AA degree in Liberal Arts with an emphasis in History from Kilian Community College in 2007.

Wendi feels her vocational call in the Church to accompany others, equip others, empower others in their process of discernment and their identity as disciples. She feels called to do this through the gifts of coaching, spiritual practices, spiritual direction, and personal development. She is committed to radical welcome and inclusion, so that we may more fully embrace our neighbor, our community, our world, and work for advocacy and justice in and for the world that God so loves.

Wendi is an Arizona transplant from the Midwest and also calls Minnesota her part time home. In addition to her ministry at Lutheran Campus Ministry University of Arizona, she volunteers her time as Policy Council member with Lutheran Advocacy Ministry of Arizona, on the Grand Canyon and national board for Diakonia: Growing in Faith, and on the Internship Committee for Wartburg Theological Seminary. She likes to spend her free time reading, traveling, crocheting, camping, cheering for the Minnesota Twins, and spending time with beloved family and friends, including her partner and their incredibly spoiled greyhound.
